Brexit
Quakers across Europe are holding
a joint meeting for worship at the time
of the expected UK departure from the EU
The Quaker Council for European Affairs (QCEA) is inviting all Friends to join as
individuals or Meetings. Simply gather together at the same time wherever you
are. For those who wish, you can connect online to a meeting for worship being
held close to the European Commission. The meeting is neither pro- nor
anti-Brexit, but recognises Brexit’s significance for many people. LINK

Experiment with Light
Quaker Life recognises that for
some Friends, Experiment with Light can be a powerful way of deepening their
spiritual life. Experience has shown that the practice contributes best to the
life of the meeting when it is undertaken in a group that is in the care of the
meeting and supported by elders. In 2019 Experiment with Light Network offers opportunities
for people with a range of experience of the practice. LINK

Friends can find out about the
practice from a very basic level of understanding or, as a practitioner, might
wish to be immersed in a 24-hour retreat, or local meetings might request a
workshop.

Reminder:
Stop DSEI 2019!
Do you want to be part of a creative,
vibrant and radical Quaker response to the DSEI (Defence and Security Equipment
International), one of the world’s largest arms fairs? Roots of Resistance, a grassroots
network of Quakers across the UK, are building a network of 100 Quakers in area
meetings around the country who will help to find 10 more Quakers in their
local area, interested in joining Roots of Resistance as they take action
against DSEI this September. The network plans to have an unprecedented Quaker
presence at DSEI, standing together against the arms fair and the global arms
trade. LINK

Help us with feedback
BYM events – give your feedback
Have you attended a BYM event in
the past few years? Please tell us about your experience of any BYM events you have
attended, or tell us why you haven’t been able to attend. BYM hosts regular
events for Friends to develop our thinking, encourage action on a variety of Quaker
concerns and share experience among role holders. Your feedback will help us to
develop events that are both relevant and accessible for you.
Please visit https://forms.quaker.org.uk/bym-events-feedback
to complete a short survey that should
take no longer than 15 minutes. The survey will open on Saturday 2 February and
close on Monday 4 March 2019.
